Vocabulary Unit 8

Lexis: art work, photograph, picture, sculpture, peaceful, impressive, striking, attractive, abstract painter, follow his bent, keep the pot boiling, landscape, still life, portrait, collage, .... first drew my attention, It made a real impact on me, It looks, it seems to be made... It´s visually stunning, My first thought/impression was, There´s a feeling.

Idioms: Time flies, slaving away, snowed under, keeping our heads above water, tighten our belts, picked up, sleepy, tied up, bitten off more than you can chew, must dash, to point the finger at, have a few hiccups, broke his heart,  takes your breath away, scarred for life, came to me in a flash,  glowing with pride, sparked my interest, being overshadowed, it dawned on me, stormy relationship, blazing rows, blossomed, in floods of tears, the root of, haven´t the foggiest idea, reach a crossroads, followed in his father´s footsteps, rambling speech, going round in circles, great strides.

More idioms: Out of the blue, over the moon, in deep water, got cold feet, pull his socks up, keep an eye on sb, pull sb´s leg, a pain in the neck, get sth off sb´s chest, play it by ear, put a brave face on it, put sb´s fingers on it, be on the tip of one´s tongue, give sb the cold shoulder.  airbrushed reality, cruel, a dream factory, fantasy land, happy endings, harmonious, harsh, imaginative, idealized, magical, romanticized, troubled, a tormented childhood.
